When we do things we tend to think of ourselves, number one!
But if we changed our thinking and work more as a team, how much more proactive would we be in our society. At least it would paint a picture as a friendly existence with people wanting to help each other.
To help each other reminds me of the biblical quote “the fruit of the vine and work of human hands”.
Lending a helping hand is like a vine and its branches working together that produces good results. In reality we are faced with many obstacles but if we were less reluctant to react and swallowed our pride to allow ourselves to be a little more humble, I think we could make a difference to great measures.
All of us need to be loved and if we are limited from being excluded from a circle of belonging and acceptance and letting others enter our space to find out who we are, then our happiness can be released from being blocked.
Mental illness and suffering is often misunderstood, misdiagnosed and unless treated properly the danger of isolation, self guarding actions can cause certain levels of “loneliness”.
The depression and anxiety that this causes is a big part of the problem in society. We can all learn from each other and the stigma attached to mental illness needs an awareness to be communicated for it to be broken down.
Progress is making big changes within beyond blue and other organisations through its campaigns and speakers talking to communities to encourage awareness.
Next time we are at work, at school, at home with family or out with friends, let us try to change our ways to include, help and assist somehow rather than “what can I get out of it for me?”
Rewards for giving feel good…..
